I hope I don't get in trouble for spilling the beans, but this just came across in a press release:

The next edition of the SFIAAFF will celebrate its 25th anniversary, and will feature a new location, AMC Van Ness Theatres, as its primary venue. The full program will be announced at a press conference on February 13, 2007.

What do you all think?

I know the Kabuki had it's share of problems, and it was always hard reading subtitles there, but I LOVED IT! I haven't been too fond of the AMC Van Ness the few times I've been there, and moreover, it really doesn't have the Asian American neighborhood vibe.

I hope this is temporary --- but who knows, maybe I'll love the Van Ness. Find One-ness at Van Ness...

  • Just got this from Karen Larsen of Larsen Associates, in charge of press:

"Sundance bought the Kabuki and is in the process of renovating it. It won't be ready by March. We are also disappointed but hope to be back in 2008 -and in the meantime attrack a new audience."

That's the answer I was hoping for. At least Sundance didn't give us the boot, and we'll have a brand new theater to return to the following year. Cheers to the SFIAFF team for securing another location at what must have been relatively short notice!
