Did anyone else here just LOVE that movie!?
I just wish there was Q&A afterwards, I would have had so many questions. I'm assuming there weren't any filmmakers present though.

Sun, March 19, 2006 - 3:15 AMDefinitely try to track down Wisit's "Tears of the Black Tiger" (it's on Greencine but not Netflix) as well: it's just as colorful. The story's better too, though it doesn't have quite as many postmodern flourishes, which were what everyone seemed to love most about "Citizen Dog". -

Sun, March 19, 2006 - 8:34 AMOh thanks! I was wondering about his prior film. It's unfortunate that Miramax bought the film and shelved it before many could see it.

Re: Citizen Dog and Tears of the Black Tiger
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 12:55 AMIf you can get your hands on Tears, definitely watch it. It's amazing! I loved Citizen Dog, but Tears was definitely more visually stunning. It really plays up the bygone era days of hand-painted backdrops. I had the chance to see it when I was back in Malaysia. Really wished Wisit was present for a Q&A.

Re: Citizen Dog
Tue, March 21, 2006 - 10:26 PMCitizen Dog was so amazing-- it's almost hard to talk about bc there are so many moments of enthusiastic absurdity to choose from...but i especially love when Pod sees Jin everywhere, and when Pod goes back home and everything is in slow motion...and later when he returns to Bangkok as the only man left with no tail, and hoards of women chase him down the street so they can touch his tail-less ass...
i hope this movie comes to the 'States soon, at least on DVD, instead of mouldering away in some distributor's vault. -

Thu, March 23, 2006 - 9:38 AMAwesome! I even love the name of the website (SuperHappyFun).
That's almost up there with my favorite store name ever:
www.engrish.com/detail.php
I might buy a couple of those. I can think of a bunch of people who would like Citizen Dog. And Tears of the Black Tiger, as well.
Did anyone read that Guardian article about Chuck Stephens appearance in Citizen Dog? -

Re: Citizen Dog
Thu, March 30, 2006 - 7:04 AMActually, I'm excited to hear that Chuck lives in Thailand. I think I'll drop him a line on my return home and see if he can give me any pointers for getting started in the Thai indie film industry (besides completing my Thai language studies, of course). -

Re: Citizen Dog
Fri, March 31, 2006 - 12:53 AMChris - are you really taking Thai language lessons? I can't help but I wish I spoke Thai when I was watching Citizen Dog - knew there were a million nuances that I probably missed. Sigh...great movie though! -

Mon, April 24, 2006 - 12:08 PMThey were selling a PAL version by mistake -- I had the same problem. They sent me a new NTSC disc in a matter of hours after I complained. Their customer service makes me superhappyfun!

Re: Citizen Dog
Mon, April 3, 2006 - 1:28 AMSure enough. Thai classes five mornings a week, four hours a day. In fact, just started the third module this morning... although it is a repeat of the module I took before I headed to the US for the Festival. Reading and writing... 44 consonants, more vowels than I can shake a stick at, and certainly a good way to capture the subtleties of Thai cinema.
